We should mention about the upset which took place in Reims, where 14th ranked Chalons-Reims (7-11) lost at home to seventeenth ranked SO Maritime Boulogne (3-15) 87-91 on Friday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 30-19. But Chalons-Reims won second period 27-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when SO Maritime Boulogne won last quarter 28-26. Strangely Chalons-Reims outrebounded SO Maritime Boulogne 44-26 including 30 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American point guard Kenny Boynton (188-91, college: Florida) who scored 17 points and 7 rebounds. The former international Stephen Brun (202-80) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Da'Sean Butler (201-88, college: W.Virginia, agency: KMG Sports Management) who recorded 21 points and 9 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and his fellow American import swingman Mark Payne (203-88, college: Cal-Davis) added 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Five SO Maritime Boulogne and four Chalons-Reims players scored in double figures. Newly promoted SO Maritime Boulogne maintains seventeenth position with 3-15 record. Chalons-Reims at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fourteenth place with 11 games lost. SO Maritime Boulogne will face higher ranked Paris-Levallois (#9) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
