Very expected game when 8th ranked Adelaide Lightning (3-15) was smashed on the road by third ranked Dandenong Rangers (11-7) 95-64 on Friday. The game without a history. Dandenong Rangers led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Adelaide Lightning's 32. Dandenong Rangers looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The former international forward Penny Taylor (185-81) notched 15 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and American forward Annalise Pickrel (190-92, college: Michigan St., agency: LBM Management) supported her with 19 points. Four Dandenong Rangers players scored in double figures. Dandenong Rangers' coach felt very confident using 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even a double-double of 10 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists by the former international Jennifer Screen (180-82) did not help to save the game for Adelaide Lightning. International center Laura Hodges (191-83) added 13 points and 9 rebounds for the guests. Dandenong Rangers have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 11-7 record having just two points less than leader Townsville F. Adelaide Lightning lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 15 games lost. Dandenong Rangers will meet at home West Coast Waves (#7) in the next round. Adelaide Lightning will play against West Coast Waves and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
