Regular Season Round 24: Toshiba BT - Toyota Alvark 84-72

The game between Top Four teams took place in Kanagawa. Third ranked host Toshiba Thunders (17-8) defeated one of their biggest challengers Toyota Alvark (14-10) 84-72. The game was mostly controlled by Toshiba Thunders. Toyota Alvark was better in second period 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Toyota Alvark to just 7 points in first quarter. The winners were led by American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 19 points and 16 rebounds and the former international swingman Naoto Tsuji (185-89) supported him with 26 points. Even a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds by American forward Jeff Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) did not help to save the game for Toyota Alvark. His fellow American import power forward Xavier Gibson (210-88, college: Florida St., agency: Comsport) added 12 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Toshiba Thunders have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains third position with 17-8 record despite having the same number of points like the leader Wakayama T. Toyota Alvark at the other side keeps the fourth place with ten games lost. Toshiba Thunders will again play against Toyota Alvark (#4) in Tokyo in the next round. Toyota Alvark will have a break next round.
