Regular Season Round 19: Mickiewicz - WKK Wroclaw 73-72

Important game to mention about took place in Katowice. Fifth ranked Mickiewicz (11-6) saved a 1-point victory at home edging 6th ranked WKK Wroclaw (9-8) 73-72 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of WKK Wroclaw. It looked good early as WKK Wroclaw took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Mickiewicz had a 25-14 second period charge getting the lead and WKK Wroclaw was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 72-73. Mickiewicz dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to WKK Wroclaw's 28. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Dawid Kolakowski (207-93) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Karol Leszczynski (190-87) contributed with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Center Marcin Kolowca (209-87) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds and forward Szymon Kiwilsza (200-97) added 8 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for WKK Wroclaw. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Mickiewicz moved-up to fourth place in Group C, which they share with Alba Chorzow. WKK Wroclaw at the other side keeps the sixth position with eight games lost. Mickiewicz will play against Cieszyn (#10) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. WKK Wroclaw's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Wroclaw Gimbasket Wroclaw.
