Regular Season Round 17: Oostende - Mons-Hainaut 86-91
Date: January 24, 2015
The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Oostende (14-2) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by sixth ranked Belfius Mons-Hainaut (9-7) 91-86. It ended at the same time the 14-game winning streak of Oostende. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Oostende won third quarter 21-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Belfius Mons-Hainaut won last quarter 28-24. American point guard Talor Battle (182-88, college: Penn St.) stepped up and scored 22 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the winners and his fellow American import power forward Jason Love (206-87, college: Xavier) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds. Five Belfius Mons-Hainaut players scored in double figures. Serbian guard Dusan Djordjevic (193-83, agency: Beo Basket) responded with 24 points and international center Khalid Boukichou (208-92, agency: Beo Basket) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Oostende's coach Dario Gjergja tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Belfius Mons-Hainaut have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Spirou and Limburg United. Defending champion Oostende still keeps top position with two games lost. Belfius Mons-Hainaut is looking forward to face Basic-Fit Brussels (#9) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Oostende will play against Kangoeroes (#10) in Willebroek and is hoping to win this game.
