Regular Season Round 17: Poitiers - Boulazac 70-81

Very expected game when 12th ranked Poitiers (7-10) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Boulazac Basket (11-5) 81-70 on Saturday. The game without a history. Boulazac Basket led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Poitiers' 28 and made 24-of-27 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was British Ovie Soko (201-91, college: Duquesne) who scored 19 points and 6 rebounds. Nigerian power forward Dinma Odiakosa (203-85, college: Illinois St., agency: KMG Sports Management) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Lamine Kante (201-87) produced 20 points and American-Dominican Jeff Greer (196-79, college: Rutgers) added 10 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Five Boulazac Basket and four Poitiers players scored in double figures. Boulazac Basket moved-up to fourth place. Loser Poitiers dropped to the eleventh position with ten games lost. They share it with St Quentin and Charleville. Boulazac Basket will meet at home ALM Evreux (#9) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Poitiers will play against Olympique Antibes and hope to secure a win.
