Regular Season Round 31: Iwate Big Bulls - Gunma 91-74

Very expected game when 8th ranked Gunma (9-18) was defeated on the road by second ranked Iwate Big Bulls (24-5) 91-74 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 51-33 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. It was a great evening for forward Lawrence Blackledge (206-86, college: Marquette) who led his team to a victory scoring 27 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Scootie Randall (198-90, college: Temple) helped adding 23 points and 7 rebounds (made all of his ten free throws !!!). Blackledge is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side swingman Marcus Morrison (198-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) responded with 15 points and 5 rebounds and forward Carlos Dixon (201-81, college: Virginia Tech) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Iwate Big Bulls maintains second place with 24-5 record behind leader Akita NH, which they share with Hamamatsu P. and Kyoto Hannar. Loser Gunma keeps the eighth position with 18 games lost. Iwate Big Bulls will face again Gunma (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
