Regular Season Round 29: Iskra Svit - Karlovka 77-59

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked Iskra Svit and 6th ranked Karlovka had identical 12-16 record. This time Iskra Svit used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Bratislava 77-59 on Saturday night. Iskra Svit dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Karlovka's 28. Iskra Svit forced 20 Karlovka turnovers and outrebounded them 45-30 including 31 on the defensive glass. American guard Lakeem Jackson (196-90, college: S.Carolina, agency: Octagon Europe) nailed a double-double by scoring 23 points and 18 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the winning side and Croatian guard Sven Smajlagic (190-90) accounted for 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Swingman Miroslav Zilik (197-89) came up with 14 points and 6 rebounds and Lukaas Hoferica added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Karlovka in the defeat. Karlovka's coach Milan Cernicky rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Iskra Svit maintains fifth place with 13-16 record. Newly promoted Karlovka keeps the sixth position with 17 games lost. Iskra Svit will meet league's leader Prievidza on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Karlovka will play against Nova Ves (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
