Regular Season Round 16: Tarbes - Angers 71-75

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 6th ranked Tarbes (9-7) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Angers (9-7) 75-71 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Tarbes won third quarter 20-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Angers made 25-of-29 free shots (86.2 percent) during the game. Tarbes was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Canadian forward Lizanne Murphy (185-84, college: Hofstra) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 9 rebounds (made all of her ten free throws !!!) and American forward Rebecca Tobin (195-88, college: Arizona St.) who added 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side Ukrainian center Valeriya Berezhynska (193-86, college: Rice, agency: Josep and Nicolas) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds and Swedish guard Kalis Loyd (188-89, college: Lamar, agency: Josep and Nicolas) scored 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Angers have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with defeated Tarbes. Angers will face Toulouse (#9) at home in the next round.
