Regular Season Round 18: Fujitsu RW - Denso Iris 69-56

WJBL round 18 caused change at the leadership position. Fourth defeat of league's leader Denso Iris (13-4) against third ranked Fujitsu RW (15-2) 69-56 was the most important game of the last round. The game was mostly controlled by Fujitsu RW. Denso Iris managed to win second period 14-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for international forward Moeko Nagaoka (180-93) who led her team to a victory with 21 points and 4 steals. International point guard Rui Machida (161-93) contributed with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. The former international power forward Maki Takada (183-89) replied with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Yasuko Itou (160-90) added 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Denso Iris. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Fujitsu RW keeps a position of league leader. Denso Iris at the other side dropped to the fourth place with four games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Fujitsu RW. Denso Iris will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Fujitsu RW will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Denso Iris in Kariya.
