Very predictable result when third ranked Toyama Grouses (22-7) smashed at home 12th ranked Saitama Broncos (1-28) 93-74 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 52-31 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Toyama Grouses outrebounded Saitama Broncos 53-30 including a 35-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American forward Sam Willard (205-88, college: Pacific) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 21 rebounds. Joho Masashi (183-82) helped adding 23 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. Four Toyama Grouses players scored in double figures. At the losing side Vincentian power forward Nyika Williams (203-87, college: Pacific) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds and American forward Gary Johnson (198-91, college: Albany) scored 18 points. Toyama Grouses have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain third place with 22-7 record having just three points less than leader Akita NH. Saitama Broncos lost third consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with 28 games lost. Toyama Grouses will face again Saitama Broncos (#12) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
