An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Uppsala. Second ranked Northland faced 3rd placed Sallen. Guests from Lulea (14-1) defeated host Sallen (11-4) 83-70. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Sallen. The game was mostly controlled by Northland. Sallen managed to win third quarter 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game, while Sallen only scored six points from the stripe. They outrebounded Sallen 44-24 including a 34-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Northland looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American-Italian forward Emily Correal (190-90, college: William & Mary, agency: Interperformances) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. The former international power forward Anna Barthold (185-80, college: St.Peter's) chipped in 6 points and 13 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Bosnian guard Matea Tavic (178-92) who recorded 20 points and American swingman Christy Bacon (182-80, college: Wyoming) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Northland have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Defending champion maintains second place with 14-1 record having just -1 point less than leader Umea. Sallen at the other side keeps the third position with four games lost. Northland are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Solna Vikings (#12) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sallen will play against Norrkoping Dolphins (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
