Very predictable result when fifth ranked Venezia (11-6) defeated on the road 12th ranked Orvieto (4-13) 75-59. The game was mostly controlled by Venezia. Orvieto was better in second period 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Venezia dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Orvieto's 28. American guard Shannon McCallum (177-87, college: Charlotte) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points and 9 rebounds. Slovakian center Marie Ruzickova (189-86, agency: LBM Management) contributed with 12 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Five Venezia players scored in double figures. American guard Kirby Burkholder (183, college: JMU, agency: LBM Management) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds and Czech center Renata Brezinova (190-90, agency: LBM Management) added 17 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Orvieto. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Venezia moved-up to fourth place. Orvieto at the other side keeps the twelfth position with 13 games lost. Venezia's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Familia Schio at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Orvieto will play against Napoli (#6) and hope to win that game.
