Regular Season Round 35: Guangdong ST - Shanghai S. 127-102

CBA top team - Guandong Tigers (32-3) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed twelfth ranked Shanghai Sharks (15-20) in Dongguan 127-102. The game was mostly controlled by Guandong Tigers. Shanghai Sharks was better in third quarter 35-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Guandong Tigers won last quarter 38-15. They also forced 19 Shanghai Sharks turnovers and outrebounded them 39-24 including 24 on the defensive glass. Guandong Tigers players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. The best player for the winners was American point guard Will Bynum (183-83, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Priority Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 31 points, 5 rebounds and 13 assists. The former international Jianlian Yi (212-87) chipped in 31 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Michael Beasley (208-89, college: Kansas St.) produced 22 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists and the other American import power forward Bernard James (208-85, college: Florida St.) added 30 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Five Guandong Tigers and four Shanghai Sharks players scored in double figures. Shanghai Sharks' coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the twenty first consecutive win for Guandong Tigers. They maintain first place with 32-3 record. Shanghai Sharks lost their third game in a row. They keep the twelfth position with 20 games lost. Guandong Tigers' next round opponent will be Bayi Rockets (#18) in Ningbo which should be another easy win for them. Shanghai Sharks will play on the road against Sichuan BW (#19) and hope to win that game.
