The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Castello (14-3) in Madrid on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by ninth ranked Fuenlabrada (9-8) 80-75. Castello was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Fuenlabrada made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. It was a good game for swingman Ruben Martinez (196-85) who led his team to a victory with 21 points and 4 assists. Latvian power forward Rolands Smits (207-95) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Fuenlabrada's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American center Nick Washburn (208-91, college: Hillsdale, agency: Duran International) replied with 27 points and 8 rebounds (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!) and center Victor Hidalgo (204-86) added 11 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Castello. Fuenlabrada moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Cambados. Castello at the other side still keeps top position with three games lost. Fuenlabrada is looking forward to face higher ranked Meridiano Alicante (#3) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Castello will play against Araberri and is hoping to win this game.
