There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked Sigma Barcellona (8-10) edged at home 3rd placed FCM Ferentino (12-7) 82-80 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they rallied back winning next two quarters and won the game by 2 points. Sigma Barcellona made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. Forward Matteo Da Ros (204-89) fired a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Canadian-Jamaican swingman Jevohn Shepherd (196-86, college: Michigan) chipped in 22 points and 7 assists. Naturalized Cameroonian center Paul Biligha (200-90, agency: Players Group) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and naturalized Argentinian Mario Jose Ghersetti (201-81) added 16 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Sigma Barcellona and four FCM Ferentino players scored in double figures. Sigma Barcellona moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Givova Napoli and Agrigento. Loser FCM Ferentino keeps the third position with seven games lost. Sigma Barcellona will face higher ranked Novipiu Casale (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. FCM Ferentino will play against Mantovana and hope to win that game.
