There was no surprise when 5th ranked Osaka Evessa (17-13) was crushed at home by third ranked Kyoto Hannar. (25-5) 81-59 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Kyoto Hannar.. Osaka Evessa was better in second period 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Osaka Evessa was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American forward Ryan Forehan-Kelly (196-80, college: California) who scored 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import forward Kevin Kotzur (203-89, college: St.Mary's, TX) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). American forward Joshua Dollard (203-86, college: USC Aiken) produced 25 points and 9 rebounds and swingman Soma Takuya (181-91) added 13 points respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Kyoto Hannar. have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Hamamatsu P. and Iwate Big Bulls. Loser Osaka Evessa keeps the fifth position with 13 games lost. Kyoto Hannar. will face Takamatsu FA (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Osaka Evessa will play against Fukuoka Rizing (#10) and hope to win that game.
