Regular Season Round 14: West Coast - Bendigo S. 55-80
Date: January 25, 2015
The game in Perth supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Bendigo Spirit (12-6) played at the court of 7th ranked West Coast Waves (4-14). Bendigo Spirit smashed West Coast Waves 80-55 on Sunday. Bendigo Spirit had a 33-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Kelsey Griffin (188-87, college: Nebraska) notched a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and international center Gabrielle Richards (191-84, college: Oregon) supported her with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Even 14 points and 6 rebounds by forward Darcy Garbin (185-94) did not help to save the game for West Coast Waves. American forward Cassie Harberts (188-92, college: USC) added 5 points and 11 rebounds for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains second position with 12-6 record having just one point less than leader Townsville F. West Coast Waves lost eleventh consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 14 games lost. Bendigo Spirit will meet at home league's leader Townsville Fire in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. West Coast Waves will play against Adelaide Lightning (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
