Regular Season Round 19: Denso Iris - Fujitsu RW 67-60

The game between Top Four teams took place in Kariya. First ranked host Denso Iris (14-4) defeated 3rd placed Fujitsu RW (15-3) 67-60. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Fujitsu RW. Fujitsu RW trailed by 14 points after 3 quarters before a 19-12 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 60-67 at the end of the game. Denso Iris dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Fujitsu RW's 28. Strangely Fujitsu RW outrebounded Denso Iris 44-30 including 29 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Fujitsu RW's players. It was a great evening for the former international power forward Maki Takada (183-89) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Yasuko Itou (160-90) helped adding 10 points and 7 assists. At the losing side international forward Moeko Nagaoka (180-93) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and international swingman Chinatsu Yamamoto (175-91) scored 16 points and 9 rebounds. Fujitsu RW's coach BT Toews rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Despite that victory Denso Iris went down to fourth position due to points difference. Fujitsu RW at the other side still keeps top place with three games lost. They share the position with Toyota A.. Denso Iris are looking forward to face league's second-placed Toyota A. in Nagoya in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Fujitsu RW will have a break next round.
