Third-ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv (10-7) made lots of trouble for first ranked Maccabi T-A (15-2) on Monday. The visitors managed to secure only three-point victory 79-76. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Hapoel Tel-Aviv. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 23-15. But Hapoel Tel-Aviv won second period 22-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Maccabi T-A won last quarter 19-18. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Hapoel Tel-Aviv's 32. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was point guard Jeremy Pargo (188-86, college: Gonzaga, agency: Priority Sports) who scored 17 points and 9 assists. Forward Brian Randle (203-85) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Power forward Yancy Gates (206-89, college: Cincinnati) produced 19 points and 5 rebounds and Larry O'Bannon (192-83, college: Louisville, agency: Interperformances) added 18 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Maccabi T-A have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 15-2 record. Hapoel Tel-Aviv at the other side keeps the third position with seven games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Maccabi T-A are looking forward to face Galil Gilboa (#10) in Rosh Pina in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hapoel Tel-Aviv will play on the road against Bnei Hasharon (#9) in Hod Hasharon and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
