D1 top team - Maccabi Ashdod (15-0) had no problems winning another game on Monday. This time they beat tenth ranked Elitzur Netanya (2-13) 71-53. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Maccabi Ashdod's pressure prevailed and they won that period 31-18 extending their advantage to 18 points. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Elitzur Netanya to just 7 points in third quarter. They outrebounded Elitzur Netanya 44-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. Maccabi Ashdod looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a quality performance for naturalized American forward Alysha Clark (178-87, college: Middle Tenn.St.) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international Shay Doron (175-85, college: Maryland) accounted for 11 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Maccabi Ashdod's coach Eliyahu Rabi used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American point guard Haiden Palmer (173, college: Gonzaga, agency: LBM Management) came up with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import forward Chastity Reed (185-89, college: UALR) added 9 points and 15 rebounds respectively for Elitzur Netanya in the defeat. Maccabi Ashdod have an impressive series of fifteen victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 15-0 record. Elitzur Netanya lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost. Maccabi Ashdod will meet Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion (#5) on the road in the next round. Elitzur Netanya will play against the league's second-placed Elitzur Ramla (#2) and hope to secure a win.
