Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both twelfth ranked AV Cantu and 11th ranked Cimberio Varese had identical 6-9 record. This time AV Cantu used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Varese 91-83 on Monday night. Cimberio Varese trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 29-24 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 83-91 at the end of the game. They outrebounded Cimberio Varese 39-24 including 29 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward DeQuan Jones (203-90, college: Miami, FL) who helped to win the game recording 26 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (perfect from the field making all eleven shots !!!) and international point guard Stefano Gentile (191-89) who added 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. AV Cantu's coach Stefano Sacripanti used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side naturalized American Craig Callahan (204-81, college: NC-Wilmington, agency: SPORTlab Agency) responded with 20 points and 5 rebounds and American point guard Eric Maynor (190-87, college: VCU) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 assists. Four AV Cantu and five Cimberio Varese players scored in double figures. AV Cantu (7-9) moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Giorgo Tesi PT and Sidigas AV. Loser Cimberio Varese dropped to the twelfth position with ten games lost. They share it with Virtus Acea and Upea CdO. AV Cantu will meet Air Avellino (#10) on the road in the next round. Cimberio Varese will play against VL Pesaro and hope to secure a win.
