Second Stage Round 5: Grodno-93 - GOCOR-Sozh 104-56

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Grodno. Second ranked Grodno-93 faced 3rd placed GOCOR-Sozh. Host Grodno-93 (13-2) smashed guests from Gomel (10-5) 104-56. The game without a history. Grodno-93 led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to GOCOR-Sozh's 36. Grodno-93 forced 22 GOCOR-Sozh turnovers and outrebounded them 49-29 including a 37-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by GOCOR-Sozh's players. The best player for the winners was international guard Kiril Sitnik (190-89, agency: Mike Diesel) who scored 20 points. Point guard Artem Malkov (185-88) chipped in 12 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Grodno-93 players scored in double figures. The former international point guard Siarhei Charykau (185-82, college: Yakima Valley CC) produced 22 points, 6 assists and 6 steals and Ukrainian forward Ivan Kaliayev (201-87) added 14 points and 13 rebounds respectively for the guests. Grodno-93 keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Tsmoki II. GOCOR-Sozh lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the third place with five games lost. Grodno-93 is looking forward to face Borisfen (#4) in Mogilev in the next round. GOCOR-Sozh will play on the road against Rubon in Vitebsk and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
