Regular Season Round 20: Keflavik - Snaefell 85-72

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Snaefell (16-2) on the court of second ranked Keflavik on Wednesday night. Visitors were defeated by Keflavik 85-72. It ended at the same time the 13-game winning streak of Snaefell. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Keflavik made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. Keflavik outrebounded Snaefell 47-34 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Carmen Tyson-Thomas (175-91, college: Syracuse, agency: Two Points) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 14 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and the former international guard Ingunn Kristinardottir (170-95) who added 15 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. American swingman Kristen McCarthy (182-90, college: Temple) responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks and the former international guard Hildur Sigurdardottir (178-81) scored 13 points and 9 rebounds. Keflavik (15-3) have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position behind leader Snaefell. Defending champion Snaefell still keeps top place with two games lost. Keflavik are looking forward to face Valur (#5) in Reykjavik in the next round. Snaefell will play at home against Grindavik (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
