Regular Season Round 35: Pioneros - Soles 83-89

The game between Top Four teams took place in Cancun. 3rd placed host Pioneros (24-7) lost to second ranked Soles (24-11) 89-83. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Pioneros. It looked good early as Pioneros took an 10-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Soles had a 24-13 second period charge getting the lead and Pioneros were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 83-89. Soles made 17-of-22 charity shots (77.3 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Zach Graham (198-89, college: Mississippi) who led the winners and scored 24 points and 6 rebounds. Ghanian-British forward Matthew Bryan-Amaning (205-88, college: Washington) accounted for 21 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side. The former international Hector Hernandez (205-85, college: Fresno St.) came up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and American-Puerto Rican point guard Denis Clemente (183-86, college: Kansas St.) added 17 points respectively for Pioneros in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Soles have a solid series of three victories in a row. Despite that victory Soles went down to third position due to points difference. Pioneros at the other side dropped to the second place with seven games lost. Soles will play against Gigantes (#10) in Toluca in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Pioneros will play at home against Gansos (#13) and hope to get back on the winning track.
