Second Stage Round 6: BGU Minsk - Tsmoki II 37-67

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Minsk: Tsmoki II (#1) and BGU Minsk (#6). BGU Minsk was smashed at home by 30 points 37-67 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The game was mostly controlled by Tsmoki II. BGU Minsk was better in fourth quarter 11-8. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding BGU Minsk to just 7 points in first quarter. Tsmoki II held BGU Minsk to an opponent 23.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 41.2 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded BGU Minsk 57-36 including a 43-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Forward Kiryl Chumakou (198-95) had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and power forward Siarhei Kazlou (203-95) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Cuban forward Darol Hernandez (206-89) with 9 points and 11 rebounds and guard Andrei Tsyvinski (197-91) scored 14 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tsmoki II maintains first position in League with 14-2 record. Newly promoted BGU Minsk keeps the sixth place with ten games lost. Tsmoki II will play against Borisfen (#4) in Mogilev in the next round. BGU Minsk will play on the road against GOCOR-Sozh in Gomel and hopes to get back on the winning track.
