Second Stage Round 6: Rubon - GOCOR-Sozh 111-64

Very important is a road loss of third ranked GOCOR-Sozh (10-6) against fifth ranked Rubon (9-8) on Friday night. Visiting GOCOR-Sozh was crushed by Rubon in Vitebsk 111-64. The game without a history. Rubon led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to GOCOR-Sozh's 44. Rubon forced 26 GOCOR-Sozh turnovers and outrebounded them 45-20 including a 32-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by GOCOR-Sozh's players. Point guard Ivan Aladko (192-95, agency: Mike Diesel) notched 25 points (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and forward Victor Ovsepyan (204-91) supported him with 10 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Five Rubon players scored in double figures. Rubon's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 13 points by point guard Ilya Scherba (176-95) did not help to save the game for GOCOR-Sozh. Ukrainian forward Ivan Kaliayev (201-87) added 12 points and 5 rebounds. Rubon maintains fifth position in League with 9-8 record. Loser GOCOR-Sozh keeps the third place with six games lost. Rubon will meet at home league's second-placed Grodno-93 in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. GOCOR-Sozh will play against BGU Minsk and hope to secure a win.
