Regular Season Round 18: Maurienne - Monaco 73-72

The most exciting game of round 18 in the ProB took place in Aix-les-Bains. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of second-best Monaco (12-5) to seventeenth ranked Aix-Maurienne (5-13) 73-72 on Friday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Monaco. The hosts trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 19-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was swingman Chris Dowe (193-91, college: Bellarmine) who scored 21 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Markel Humphrey (198-86, college: Marshall, agency: Three Eye Sports) chipped in 19 points. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Darrel Mitchell (181-84, college: LSU) who recorded 22 points and 5 assists and swingman Quincy Taylor (195-82, college: UAB) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Aix-Maurienne moved-up to sixteenth place, which they share with Souffel. Newly promoted Monaco keeps the second position with five games lost. They share it with Boulazac. Aix-Maurienne is looking forward to face Souffelweyersheim (#16) on the road in the next round. Monaco will play against Angers BC (#18) and is hoping to win this game.
