Regular Season Round 19: St Vallier - La Rochelle 88-72

Very expected game when 10th ranked La Rochelle (8-8) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Saint Vallier (10-7) 88-72. It looked good early as La Rochelle took an 5-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Saint Vallier had a 23-15 second period charge getting the lead and La Rochelle was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 72-88. They outrebounded La Rochelle 39-22 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. 27 personal fouls committed by La Rochelle helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized Guyanese forward Gide Noel (198-93) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds. American power forward Kurt Cunningham (205-87, college: Boise St.) contributed with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Saint Vallier players scored in double figures. Swingman Bastien Pinault (194-93) answered with 30 points and American forward Jarryd Cole (205-88, college: Iowa) added 13 points in the effort for La Rochelle. La Rochelle's coach Gregory Thielin rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Saint Vallier moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Chartres. La Rochelle at the other side keeps the tenth position with eight games lost. Saint Vallier's next round opponent will be Sorgues BC (#13) on the road and are hoping to win another game. La Rochelle will play against Lourdes-Tarbes and hope to win that game.
