Regular Season Round 36: Barreteros - Fuerza Regia 98-104

No shocking result in a game in Zacatecas where ninth ranked Fuerza Regia (17-15) defeated bottom-ranked Barreteros (6-26) 104-98. The guests were already 14 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 31-23 Barreteros' run in the last quarter cut the lead to 104-98 at the end of the game. Fuerza Regia made 25-of-25 charity shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. It was a good game for international center Lance Allred (211-81, college: Weber St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 12 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field). Puerto Rican point guard Ricardo Melendez (179-83) contributed with 25 points (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) for the winners. Fuerza Regia's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American Devon Pearson (198-84, college: SMU) replied with 32 points and 7 rebounds and Spanish guard Marc Cuesta (190-89) added 14 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists in the effort for Barreteros. Four Fuerza Regia and five Barreteros players scored in double figures. Fuerza Regia moved-up to eighth place. Newly promoted Barreteros stay dead last with 26 lost games. Fuerza Regia will play against league's leader Halcones Rojos in Veracruz in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Barreteros will play on the road against Correcaminos (#12) in Ciudad Victoria and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
