Very important is a road loss of third ranked Conquero (14-3) against ninth ranked Rivas Ecopolis (7-10) on Saturday night. Visiting Conquero was defeated by Rivas Ecopolis in a tough game in Rivas 67-71. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Conquero. Conquero was ahead by 5 points after three quarters before a 25-16 charge of Rivas Ecopolis, which allowed them to win the game. They made 27-of-32 charity shots (84.4 percent) during the game, while Conquero only scored nine points from the stripe. Conquero was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Lyndra Weaver (185-87, college: Virginia, agency: Regeneracom Sports) nailed a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side and her fellow American import center Lady Comfort (188-86, college: Temple, agency: Josep and Nicolas) accounted for 16 points and 8 rebounds. American swingman Aja Parham (183-84, college: Boston Coll.) came up with 21 points (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) and point guard Maria Asurmendi (168-86, agency: Regeneracom Sports) added 17 points respectively for Conquero in the defeat. Defending champion moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Zamarat. Conquero at the other side keeps the third position with three games lost. Rivas Ecopolis will play against Campus Promete (#13) in Logrono in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Conquero will play at home against Gernika (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
