Very predictable result when third ranked Dandenong Rangers (12-7) defeated at home bottom-ranked West Coast Waves (4-16) 87-80. The game without a history. Dandenong Rangers led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to West Coast Waves' 30 and made 24-of-24 charity shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. It was a good game for the former international forward Penny Taylor (185-81) who led her team to a victory with 25 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). American guard Cappie Pondexter (175-83, college: Rutgers) contributed with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) for the winners. American forward Cassie Harberts (188-92, college: USC) answered with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import guard Lindsey Moore (175-91, college: Nebraska) added 17 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for West Coast Waves. Four Dandenong Rangers and five West Coast Waves players scored in double figures. Dandenong Rangers have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain third place with 12-7 record having just three points less than leader Townsville F. West Coast Waves lost thirteenth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 16 games lost. Dandenong Rangers' next round opponent will be Bulleen Boomers (#6) in Melbourne. West Coast Waves will play at home against Sydney Uni Flames and hope to win that game.
