Shanghai Sharks led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Chongqing FD's 38. They outrebounded Chongqing FD 68-44 including a 41-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Shanghai Sharks players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. American power forward Bernard James (208-85, college: Florida St.) notched 25 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and the other American import forward Michael Beasley (208-89, college: Kansas St.) supported him with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists. Four Shanghai Sharks players scored in double figures. Even 19 points and 6 rebounds by forward Peng Yao (205-86) did not help to save the game for Chongqing FD. Forward Guobin Huang (195-93) added 18 points for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Shanghai Sharks maintains twelfth position with 17-21 record. Chongqing FD lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 34 lost games.
