Regular Season Round 19: Lucentum - Fuenlabrada 56-52

Rather predictable result when third ranked Meridiano Alicante (13-5) defeated at home 5th ranked Fuenlabrada (10-8) 56-52 on Sunday. Fuenlabrada was trailing by 7 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 20-14 charge of Meridiano Alicante, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 22 Fuenlabrada turnovers. Fuenlabrada was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for swingman Javier Marin (194-86) who led his team to a victory scoring 8 points and 4 assists. Cameroonian center Johan Kody (207-93) helped adding 7 points and 5 assists. At the losing side swingman Ruben Martinez (196-85) responded with 13 points and 6 rebounds and British-Swedish center Nicholas Spires (210-94) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Meridiano Alicante moved-up to second place, which they share with Caceres. Fuenlabrada at the other side dropped to the sixth position with eight games lost. Meridiano Alicante will face bottom-ranked Araberri (#15) in Vitoria-Gasteiz in the next round which should be an easy win for them.
