Regular Season Round 27: Hitachi SR - Toyota Alvark 81-69

Date: February 1, 2015
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Tokyo: Hitachi Sunrockers (#1) and Toyota Alvark (#5). Hitachi Sunrockers (24-6) won against visiting Toyota Alvark (15-12) 81-69. The game was mostly controlled by Hitachi Sunrockers. Toyota Alvark was better in fourth quarter 24-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hitachi Sunrockers brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks. Qatari-American guard Trey Johnson (196-84, college: Jackson St.) accounted for 28 points for the winning side. American forward Jeff Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) came up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Kohei Ninomiya (173-88) added 9 points and 4 assists respectively for Toyota Alvark in the defeat. Toyota Alvark's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Hitachi Sunrockers maintains first place with 24-6 record. Toyota Alvark at the other side keeps the fifth position with 12 games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Toyota Alvark will play at home against the league's second-placed Mitsubishi Dolphins (#2) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
