Regular Season Round 19: Sevilla - Valencia 79-72

Bottom-ranked Sevilla managed to get a fourth victory, breaking the series of eight consecutive loses on Sunday night. This time they won against sixth-ranked Valencia Basket 79-72. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Valencia Basket. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-15. But Valencia Basket won second period 23-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Sevilla won last quarter 21-16. They made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for power forward Pierre Oriola (206-92) who led the winners and scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Serbian guard Nikola Radicevic (197-94) accounted for 10 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side. Four Sevilla players scored in double figures. point guard Pau Ribas (196-87) came up with 17 points and 5 assists and Montenegrin Bojan Dubljevic (205-91, agency: Beo Basket) added 14 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Valencia Basket in the defeat. Valencia Basket's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Sevilla (4-15) moved-up to seventeenth place, which they share with Fuenlabrada. Loser Valencia Basket keeps the sixth position with eight games lost. Sevilla will meet higher ranked CAI Zaragoza (#8) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Valencia Basket will play against Blusens Monbus in Santoago de Comp and hope to secure a win.
