Venezia (#4) forced the game against Familia Schio (#2) into an overtime, but lost by two points 76-78 on Sunday night. The game took place in Venezia. But the guests from Schio were better at the end. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Venezia. Venezia was trailing by 14 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 19-16 charge of Familia Schio, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 10-8. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Laura Macchi (188-79) who scored 17 points and 9 rebounds. American Jolene Anderson (175-86, college: Wisconsin) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Shannon McCallum (177-87, college: Charlotte) who recorded a double-double by scoring 31 points and 14 rebounds and Romanian forward Simina Mandache (185-81) added 10 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Familia Schio have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 14-3 record having just -3 point less than leader Ragusa. Venezia at the other side dropped to the fifth place with seven games lost. Familia Schio will face Battipaglia (#7) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Venezia will play against Vigarano and hope to win that game.
