Regular Season Round 21: Denso Iris - Toyota A. 72-60

The game had a very big importance for fourth-ranked Denso Iris as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Denso Iris defeated 3rd placed Toyota A. in Kariya 72-60. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Denso Iris dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Toyota A.'s 28. They outrebounded Toyota A. 36-23 including 28 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for the former international power forward Maki Takada (183-89) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. International guard Minami Iju (168-90) contributed with 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Denso Iris players scored in double figures. International forward Mika Kurihara (178-89) answered with 16 points and center Mori Binge (180-88) added 14 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Toyota A.Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Denso Iris have a solid series of three victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Toyota A. at the other side dropped to the fourth place with five games lost. Toyota A. will play next round against Mitsubishi K. trying to get back on the winning streak. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will face at home their local rival from Nagoya - Mitsubishi K.. Denso Iris will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
