D1 top team - Maccabi Ashdod (16-0) added another victory to their record on Monday. This time they beat fifth ranked Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion (7-9) 90-83. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion won fourth quarter 23-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Americans were the main players on the court. Worth to mention a quality performance of center Tiffany Jackson (191-85, college: Texas) who helped to win the game recording 14 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists and point guard Amanda Houts (168-87, college: Georgia, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who added 21 points during the contest. Five Maccabi Ashdod players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Chelsea Gray (180-92, college: Duke) responded with 28 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and forward Karisma Penn (188-91, college: Illinois) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks. Maccabi Ashdod have an impressive 16-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 16-0 record. Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion at the other side keeps the fifth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Ramat Hasharon. Maccabi Ashdod are looking forward to face Bnot Hertzeliya (#4) at home in the next round. Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion will play against the league's second-placed Elitzur Ramla and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
