Eighth-ranked Vanoli Cremona (8-9) used its home court advantage to challenge third ranked Trenkwalder RE (13-4) on Monday. The visitors from Reggio Emilia managed to secure only one-point victory 88-87. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 20-18 charge, which allowed them to win the game. American guard Drake Diener (196-81, college: De Paul) saved the victory by scoring 27 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). International forward Achille Polonara (203-91) contributed with 14 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American swingman Cameron Clark (201-91, college: Oklahoma) answered with 20 points and 9 rebounds and international point guard Luca Vitali (201-86) added 12 points and 10 assists in the effort for Vanoli Cremona. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Trenkwalder RE have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Umana VE. Vanoli Cremona lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with nine games lost. They share it with AV Cantu. Trenkwalder RE is looking forward to face Cimberio Varese (#14) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Vanoli Cremona will play against Tuscany Pistoia (#11) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
