Regular Season Round 16: Elitzur Yavne - Maccabi Raanana 99-92
Date: February 3, 2015
Rather predictable result when eighth ranked Elitzur Yavne (9-7) won against at home 12th ranked Maccabi Raanana (4-12) 99-92 on Tuesday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 29-18 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Elitzur Yavne looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The winners were led by American guard Mark Tyndale (196-86, college: Temple) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 17 points, 14 rebounds and 8 assists and Igor Mayor (198-93) supported him with 28 points. Even a double-double of 31 points and 19 rebounds by American forward Reeves Nelson (203-91, college: UCLA) did not help to save the game for Maccabi Raanana. His fellow American import forward Dom Morris (201-90, college: Boston U.) added 22 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Five Elitzur Yavne and four Maccabi Raanana players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Elitzur Yavne have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Ironi Ramat Gan. Maccabi Raanana lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the thirteenth position with 12 games lost. Elitzur Yavne will meet league's leader Maccabi K/G in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Maccabi Raanana will play against the league's second-placed Ironi Kiryat Ata (#2) and hope to secure a win.
