No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Ciego de Avila (7-6) crushed at home 7th ranked Las Tunas (3-10) 99-57 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Ciego de Avila. Las Tunas managed to win second period 23-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ciego de Avila dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Las Tunas' 12. Ciego de Avila forced 19 Las Tunas turnovers and outrebounded them 34-18 including a 26-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international William Granda (189-85) nailed 23 points and 4 steals for the winning side and guard Dainier Martinez (184-96) accounted for 15 points and 4 assists. Ciego de Avila's coach Jesus Martus felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Guard Alfred Castilla (192-83) came up with 16 points and power forward Tomas Garcia (196-82) added 12 points respectively for Las Tunas in the defeat. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Ciego de Avila. Defending champion maintains fourth place with 7-6 record. Newly promoted Las Tunas keep the seventh position with ten games lost. Ciego de Avila will again meet at home Las Tunas (#7) in the next round. Las Tunas will have a break next round.
