LSB top team - Capitalinos (14-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eighth ranked Guantanamo (2-11) 75-48. The game without a history. Capitalinos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Guantanamo's 30. They outrebounded Guantanamo 50-30 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Capitalinos players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Guantanamo's players. International center Jasiel Rivero (204-93) notched 16 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and guard Reinier Muniz (184-85) supported him with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Even a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds by forward Antonio Sanchez (195-85) did not help to save the game for Guantanamo. The former international swingman Yoannis Soria (195-86) added 2 points and 9 rebounds for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Capitalinos have an impressive 14-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 14-0 record. Guantanamo lost eleventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 11 games lost. Capitalinos will play against Ciego de Avila (#4) in the next round. Guantanamo will play against Camaguey (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
