Regular Season Round 18: Wildcats - Taipans 65-54

Leading Cairns Taipans (19-7) recorded its seventh loss on the court of third ranked Perth Wildcats. Visitors were defeated by Perth Wildcats 65-54. The game without a history. Perth Wildcats led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 18-of-22 charity shots (81.8 percent) during the game. American guard Jermaine Beal (191-87, college: Vanderbilt) scored 17 points to lead the charge for the winners and the former international power forward Matthew Knight (204-85, college: Loyola Mary) chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was the former international power forward Alexander Loughton (206-83, college: ODU) with 16 points and 7 rebounds and international guard Cameron Gliddon (196-89, college: Concordia Irvine) scored 11 points. Cairns Taipans' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion maintains third position with 15-10 record having five points less than leader Taipans. Cairns Taipans at the other side still keep top place with seven games lost. Perth Wildcats will play against league's second-placed New Zealand Breakers in Auckland in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Cairns Taipans will play at home against United and hope to get back on the winning track.
