There was no surprise when 7th ranked Villa Clara (2-14) was crushed on the road by second ranked Capitalinas (12-4) 84-63. The game without a history. Capitalinas led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Capitalinas forced 19 Villa Clara turnovers and outrebounded them 45-25 including a 18-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for point guard Dairis Tornell (176-92) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 4 assists. International Suchitel Avila (184-82) contributed with 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Capitalinas players scored in double figures. International forward Francy Ochoa (185-90) replied with 16 points and 4 steals and center Lesdaine Valle (181-92) added 11 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Villa Clara. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Capitalinas have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 12-4 record having just two points less than leader Pinar del Rio. Villa Clara lost twelfth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 14 games lost. Capitalinas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Villa Clara will play against Artemisa (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
