The game between closely ranked teams ended with 8th ranked Trefl's (9-10) road loss to seventh ranked Asseco (11-8) in Gdynia 81-89 on Saturday. Trefl trailed by 16 points after 3 quarters before a 36-28 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 81-89 at the end of the game. Asseco made 29-of-34 free shots (85.3 percent) during the game. Trefl was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for guard Filip Matczak (187-93) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). American point guard A.J. Walton (184-90, college: Baylor) contributed with 23 points and 5 assists for the winners. Lithuanian center Tautvydas Lydeka (208-83) answered with 17 points and 8 rebounds and international Michal Michalak (197-93) added 12 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Trefl. Five Trefl players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Asseco maintains seventh place with 11-8 record. Trefl lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with ten games lost. Asseco will face league's second-placed Stelmet in Zielona Gora in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Trefl will play at home against Wilki Morskie (#16) and hope to win that game.
