We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 5th ranked Niigata Albirex (19-12) lost on the road to sixth ranked Aomori Watts (17-14) 80-70 on Saturday. It was a good game for American-Panamanian forward Gyno Pomare (203-86, college: San Diego) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds. American power forward Paul Williams (208-83, college: St.Bonaventure, agency: I.D.S. Law) contributed with 8 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. American guard Russell Carter (196-85, college: Notre Dame) answered with 19 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import center Patrick Sullivan (206-88, college: SE Louisiana, agency: Two Points) added 11 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Niigata Albirex. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Aomori Watts maintains sixth place with 17-14 record. Loser Niigata Albirex dropped to the fourth position with 12 games lost. Aomori Watts will face again higher ranked Niigata Albirex (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
