Regular Season Round 33: Fukushima - Toyama Grouses 88-101

Very predictable result when third ranked Toyama Grouses (23-8) won against on the road 9th ranked Fukushima (9-22) 101-88 on Saturday. Toyama Grouses dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Fukushima's 44 and made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Toyama Grouses looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. It was a good game for Panamanian forward Jamelle Horne (200-88, college: Arizona) who led his team to a victory with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Joho Masashi (183-82) contributed with 23 points and 7 assists for the winners. American guard Verdell Jones III (195-89, college: Indiana) answered with 27 points and 9 assists and the other American import forward Terrance Shannon (203-90, college: VCU) added 13 points and 11 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) in the effort for Fukushima. Five Toyama Grouses and four Fukushima players scored in double figures. Toyama Grouses maintains third place with 23-8 record having just three points less than leader Akita NH. Fukushima lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth position with 22 games lost. Toyama Grouses will have a break next round. Fukushima will play again at home against Toyama Grouses (#3) and hope to win that game.
