Regular Season Round 38: Jefes - Halc.Xalapa 87-117

Rather expected game when 6th ranked Jefes (18-16) were crushed at home by fourth ranked Halcones UV Xalapa (25-9) 117-87 on Saturday. The game without a history. Halcones UV Xalapa led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot 62.9 percent from the field. Halcones UV Xalapa shot the lights out from three sinking 18 long-distance shots on high 62.1 percentage. The former international Noe Alonzo (200-83, college: Grand Canyon) scored 39 points (!!!) (on 14-of-17 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Adrian Henning (203-82, college: Austin Peay St.) chipped in 16 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) during the contest. American forward Dan Jennings (206-90, college: Long Beach St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Ray Gallegos (188-90, college: Nebraska) scored 22 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Halcones UV Xalapa maintains fourth position with 25-9 record. Newly promoted Jefes keep the sixth place with 16 games lost. Halcones UV Xalapa will face Correcaminos (#12) in Ciudad Victoria in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Jefes will play on the road against Gigantes (#10) in Toluca and hope to win that game.
