Regular Season Round 20: Gravelines - Le Mans 69-63
Date: February 7, 2015
There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked Gravelines-Dunkerque (9-11) defeated at home higher ranked Le Mans (10-10) 69-63 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 69-63. Gravelines-Dunkerque dominated on the defensive end, holding Le Mans to just 2 points in second quarter. Strangely Le Mans outrebounded Gravelines-Dunkerque 40-27 including 29 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Jordan Aboudou (200-91) who helped to win the game recording 28 points and 6 rebounds (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field) and naturalized Ivorian point guard Mouloukou Souleyman Diabate (181-87, agency: Beo Basket) who added 15 points and 4 assists during the contest. American-DR Congolese power forward Judson Wallace (206-82, college: Princeton) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and Polish power forward Michal Ignerski (207-80, college: Mississippi St.) scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Le Mans' coach Erman Kunter gave the chance to play for ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Gravelines-Dunkerque maintains twelfth position with 9-11 record, which they share with Chalons-Reims and Rouen. Loser Le Mans keeps the eighth place with ten games lost. Gravelines-Dunkerque will face higher ranked ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (#8) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
